Bromley Council has introduced a pilot Best Bar None award scheme in partnership with the Metropolitan Police into Bromley Town Centre. The invitation was to 14 pubs and bars to join this Responsible Management award scheme

The intention is to promote Bromley as a safe and enjoyable place to socialise, live and work by reducing alcohol related crime and disorder in the town centre.

The principles of the scheme are to reward good practice as opposed to punishing bad.

The best-run premises in Bromley will be rewarded and promoted as having high professional standards of customer care and safety. The standards required for accreditation are above the legal requirements and management will need to demonstrate their commitment to their customers and staff

Created and developed by Greater Manchester Police’s City Safe Unit in 2002 the scheme as been adopted nationwide as a standard of excellence and is supported by the Home Office and BII. There are currently 80 locations across the UK running the schemes.

This is not an enforcement exercise and all feedback will be positive. The assessments will be conducted by an Independent Licensing Consultant working in positive partnership with the Licensing Authorities and licensed trade to reward, and promote, well-run premises.
